CHAIR

Position Research Administrator

Reports to Various Positions

Description The Research Administrator is a task/project oriented position, responsible for gathering information for specific CORE initiatives from preliminary fact finding to the development of resource guides. Some examples of projects include demographics of Filipino communities in the US, collecting impressions of CORE in the media and supporting functions to research venues, partners, etc. Must be detailed oriented and skilled at utilizing available resources.

VICE CHAIR, PROGRAMS

Position Speaker Series Co-Leader (up to four positions)

Reports to Vice Chair, Programs

Description Two volunteers will plan and execute each of TWO themed speaker series events planned for 2009. One in June and one in October. Main responsibilities include execution of logistics in registration, budgeting, marketing, venue research and booking, catering, program agenda and journal, soliciting speakers, and volunteer management. Past experience in event planning preferred but not necessary.

Position Program Manager, Cultural Series (multiple positions)

Reports to Vice Chair, Programs

Description Event leaders will plan and execute one or more new programs focused on raising Filipino cultural awareness. The Program Manager, Cultural Series will be responsible for the execution of logistics for several interactive and informative cultural workshop sessions. Topics include: the Filipino Flag, Cultural Diversity, Filipino Cuisine, among others. Past experience in event planning and general interest in Filipino culture preferred but not necessary.

Position Liaison to the Census Bureau

Reports to Vice Chair, Programs

Description CORE will be partnering with the local Census Bureau through 2009 to assist with the 2010 Census initiative. The volunteer would represent CORE at meetings and events related to the partnership with the Census Bureau. Other associated responsibilities are still to be determined.

VICE CHAIR, MEMBERSHIP SERVICES

Position Ambassador (multiple positions)

Reports to Vice Chair, Membership Services

Description Volunteer(s) will play key roles in marketing and recruitment as representatives of CORE at community events, special meetings and programs, collaborations and outreach efforts, as well as other recruitment opportunities. Must be person-oriented with great communication skills and possess a strong passion for CORE's mission. Training is required and will be provided.

VICE CHAIR, ADMINISTRATION

Connections Newsletter Team

Position Events Correspondent (up to 2 positions)

Reports to Newsletter Editor

Description Contribute articles for CORE's quarterly newsletter. Coordinate with Field Reporters and Event Photographers to prepare event summaries. Provide feedback on newsletter concept and design, including layout. Must be team-oriented and able to meet deadlines. Previous journalism experience a plus, but not required. Ideally, one correspondent will cover events in NJ and another in NY.

Position Field Reporter (multiple positions)

Reports to Newsletter Editor

Description Attend CORE events to gather information and conduct interviews. Communicate with the Events Correspondent to prepare event summaries. Must be team-oriented and able to meet deadlines.

Position Event Photographer (multiple positions)

Reports to Newsletter Editor

Description Take pictures at CORE events. Coordinate with the Events Correspondent to prepare event summaries and with the Website Administrator/Designer to archive event photos. Photography background a plus. Must be team-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines.

VICE CHAIR, MARKETING

Position Graphic Designer (one position)

Reports to Vice Chair, Marketing

Description Develop brochures and other printed media in support of CORE's marketing strategy. Coordinate with the Newsletter Editor and Website Administrator in the design and layout of the newsletter and website, respectively. Background and previous experience with graphic design and marketing preferred. Knowledge of graphic design software a definite plus. Must be able to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks, and possess excellent communication skills.

VICE CHAIR, FINANCE

Position Fundraising Manager (one position)

Reports to Vice Chair, Finance

Description The Fundraising Manager is responsible for implementing CORE's fund development strategy in partnership with the Board. The manager will connect with potential donor types: individuals, corporations, and government entities, research potential grant opportunities, and coordinate efforts to implement fundraising events, including Write to Our Culture, the annual Scavenger Hunt and the Pool Tournament. This individual will be required to network with a variety of constituents, including government officials, corporate executives and community leaders.

VICE CHAIR, TECHNOLOGY

Position Website Administrator/Designer (one position)

Reports to Vice Chair, Technology

Description One volunteer will re-design and maintain the content on the website on an as needed basis. Knowledge in HTML, CSS, Javascript, Microsoft .Net, ASP.Net, C# and experience in basic graphics editing is preferred.

DIRECTOR, READ PHILIPPINES

Position Library Relationship Managers (multiple positions)

Reports to Director, READ Philippines

Description These individuals will be assigned specific regions in CORE’s outreach areas. Within those assigned regions, volunteers will identify new libraries to assess the potential for a book turnover and visit previous recipient libraries to measure the impact of the collections. They will cultivate relationships and opportunities with partner libraries and their communities. Example regional designations: New York City, Rockland/Westchester, Long Island, North Jersey, Central Jersey.

INDEPENDENT COMMITTEES

Position Election Committee (3 positions)

Reports to Advisory Team

Description Facilitate election process in a timely matter (a timeline will be sent to the appointed volunteers). Communicate processes for nominations, acceptance of nominations, campaign period, voting, and announcement of 2008 board members. Maintain accurate record keeping of nominations, votes, processes and communications. Set up TWO Meet-the-Candidates Sessions during the Campaign Period. Must be Members in Good Standing who are not seeking a board Position in 2010.
