2009 BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Mark A. Habana, Chair
chair@core-nyc.org

An active member of CORE from 2002 to 2004, Mark Habana served in a number of supportive roles in event planning, fundraising, and recruiting. A career transition in 2004 limited his time pursuing personal goals in public service, as he focused his move from the corporate sector to the non-profit sector. In spite of this, he continued his community service work by volunteering for special events coordinated by groups like the Asian Women in Business, the Asian American Writers' Workshop, and the Asian American Federation of New York.

He began his professional career in 1998 as a Lab Technician at Nabisco Foods before its merger with Kraft Foods two years later. Following this merger, Mark became an Analytical Chemist working on projects that ranged from analytical product testing and lab information management systems to robotics and process analytical chemistry. During his time at Kraft Foods, Mark also played critical roles in three areas of the company's diversity efforts: leadership roles in the Asian American Employee Council - New Jersey, site leader for the Diversity of Styles Team in Research and Development's Organizational Excellence structure, and Diversity Trainer, acclimating employees and new hires to Kraft's policies and attitudes on Diversity.
